The Wizard of Oz December 3rd through 19th, 2004 The young, the young at heart, and any adult who recalls with nostalgia the OZ book or Judy Garland’s movie will find Theatre in the Grove’s production of The Wizard of Oz a delightful addition to their holiday entertainment. For adults, the only thing which would make it more fun would be to have a child or grandchild in tow! The production is a musical with all of the favorite and well known songs included in the show… SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW; DING, DONG, THE WITCH IS DEAD; the Scarecrow’s lament IF I ONLY HAD A BRAIN; and WE’RE OFF TO SEE THE WIZARD. Many old Theatre in the Grove favorites are in the cast. Daniel Keczmer, the wonderful magician in THE MAGICIAN’S NEPHEW is the Scarecrow; Jeff Cooper is the Cowardly Lion and a favorite from OLIVER; Adrienne Fletcher is Dorothy. Newcomer, Joshua Laguana is the Tinman. A familiar face at HART but new to TITG is Ray Hale, who plays the Wizard and the Professor. Sharon Cunningham, a Theatre in the Grove favorite is Glinda the good witch and Pru Centers, who played Glinda in TITG’s 1978 production of the Wizard, is the evil Witch of the West. Kevin Benfield of Hillsboro is music director and Connie Peterson, originally from Forest Grove now living in Lacey, Washington, is handling the directing. The show opens on December 3rd and runs for three weekends. 8:00 pm December 3, 4, 10, 11, 17 and 18, with 2:30 pm matinees Sunday afternoons December 5, 12, and19.
